17th of October in Tanzania

This year’s theme was : "To overcome extreme poverty : which challenges for the young people ?"
More than a 100 people coming from different small Tanzanian associations in Dar es Salaam and even Njombe and Dodoma joined in and actively participated in the event with testimonies, songs and poems. Very many participants insisted on the importance of sharing our know-how, our skills with the others and especially with the poorest people.
Pili, who is involved in an embroidery project for handicapped people told us : "We learn to be responsible for teaching those who join the project for the first time. This is our culture. Every person is supposed to involve himself with his talent and to give back what he learnt in the beginning when he joined this project."

- On one hand, the group of the young friends of ATD, who meet every month on the second Saturday, had written and performed a poem about poverty and society, finishing with these words
"Let us make solidarity, to overcome incidents,
Quickly! all age groups, wherever there is a purpose there is a way,
Poverty is not song, to sing on the stage,
Let us invest our strength, let us overcome poverty." - On the other hand, a group of young people from Tandale had prepared some drama representing the dangers and difficulties they face in their neighbourhood : prostitution, drug abuse, lack of respect towards the elder, pollution and sanitation problems …
An artist, member of Uwaba (an association defending the rights of the cyclists) made everybody dance and clap hands with his song as you can see on the video :
