ATD Fourth World has been active in Peru since 1991.
Our activities are based in deprived urban districts (in Cusco and Lima) and rural communities, and include the organisation of street libraries and field libraries for children and young people. We have also set up training workshops where Fourth World family members can develop their ideas and activities, so as to gain access to participation in economic, political, social and cultural life.
We endeavour to produce new initiatives in the fight to eradicate poverty, by promoting spaces for dialogue and reflection on extreme poverty: organising Tapori children’s groups, celebrating the World Day to Overcome Extreme Poverty on 17th October, and spreading the ideas of Father Joseph Wresinski.
